The winner will be announced at the Red Carpet Awards Ceremony March 4, 2012, 4-6pm,
at the Rave Cinema, The Greene. Reception will follow.
The Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) and Breast Cancer Task Force of the Greater Miami Valley (BCTF) are hosting the fourth annual Breast Cancer Video Contest that promotes breast health education and awareness in the Dayton community and beyond its borders. This year, they will again award more than $10,000 in scholarships and prizes. Every school that submits a video is guaranteed one winner, and the first place winner of the contest will win a $2,000 scholarship and an additional $1,000 award for the sponsoring school!
October 15 Teachers register video entries by turning in all forms to Video Contest Coordinator
October 28 Teachers submit videos (in Quick Time) to Video Contest Coordinator by 5:00 p.m.
November 1 Video voting will begin at noon
February 15 Final tally of YouTube hits will be taken at noon
February 15 Students must notify Video Contest Coordinator if they cannot attend the Awards
Ceremony on March 4th or they will forfeit their prize money should they win
March 4 Awards ceremony at the Rave. All participants must be present to win.
Note: A representative from the video contest committee will be available to speak with your students about the contest rules or breast health in general. If you would like to schedule a speaker, please contact the Video Contest Coordinator at contact@breastcancertf.org.
How to Enter – Teachers will give the contest coordinator all completed applications & forms by October 15, and discs with videos in QuickTime format by October 28. The contest coordinator will post the videos on YouTube on November 1st. After the videos are posted, teachers will give students information to encourage viewing and voting from family and friends. Videos will be posted by title only — school and student’s names will not be posted.
Cost– Free
Who may participate – All high school students (Grades 9-12) in the Greater Miami Valley area with a sponsoring school.
Prizes – More than $10,000 in scholarships will be awarded. Scholarships ranging from $400 - $2,000 will be given to the top ten winners and an engraved traveling trophy and check for $1,000 will be presented to the school that has the top award. In addition to these top ten awards, each school will receive a $250 scholarship to award the best video entry from that school. (Only one award per winner so this award will go to the next best video should the school have an entry win one of the top ten prizes.) We are also offering five cash prizes ($100 - $500) for the top five videos with the most YouTube hits.

The Breast Cancer Foundation and the Breast Cancer Task Force of the Greater Miami Valley
presented the awards for its 3rd Student Breast Cancer Video Contest on
Sunday, April 17, at 3 p.m. at Oakwood High School
WDTN Channel 2 Morning Anchor Dan Edwards and 99.9 LITE FM’s Kim Faris emceed the event. Approximately 80 students from six area high schools —Alter, Centerville, Miamisburg, Oakwood, Springboro and Stivers School for the Arts — entered 33 public service announcements featuring the importance and methods of early detection in the fight against breast cancer.

Oakwood and Miamisburg High Schools
Dayton Ohio
The Breast Cancer Foundation in Dayton sponsored this video contest at
Oakwood and Miamisburg High Schools. Participants created short films
that offer the audience an entertaining and interesting insight about
Breast Cancer and the importance of having a screening mammogram. They
were to highlight that cost is not a factor for good health because of
organizations like The Breast Cancer Foundation and others, which
provide free mammograms for women.
All films were up loaded (posted) to YouTube, and the film with the most
Internet hits after 30 days at each school was the winner.
The Breast Cancer Foundation, established in 1993 in Dayton, Ohio, is a
not for profit organization operated by volunteers who are dedicated to
fighting breast cancer through education, early detection, and survivor
support services.
